Ukraine and Back Again

It's hard to believe we left for Kiev one week ago and returned last night. We had hoped to post here during our trip, but between our hectic schedule and times of no available internet, there seemed to only be time for a few quick Facebook posts. We'll briefly recap the week and provide an estimated remaining timeline. Our next post will highlight our day in Ukrainian court.
We think we confused many folks with our picture outside Ukrainian court announcing that we had been granted parenthood over Igor. While the court did grant us parenthood and Igor "sonship", Ukrainian law requires a 10 day waiting period to allow for any appeals. On rare occasions this is waved, but this did not happen for us. Since our 10 days ends on a Saturday, we will have to wait until the following Monday for the court to issue the decree. It is at this point that we can begin the final phase of the adoption process to bring Igor home.
August 29 - September 4: In our 7 days of travel we made stops in Charlotte, Minneapolis, Amsterdam, Kiev, Znamenka, Novomirgorod, Mala Vyska, back to Novomirgorod, Znamenka, Kiev, then Munich, Charlotte, and finally home. We traveled by car, plane, boat, train, metro, and wild car driver. Whew! What a week!
Estimated Remaining Timeline:
September 12/13: Laura flies back to Kiev and takes a train to central Ukraine.
September 14: First business day after 10 day waiting period - Pick up court decree &
GO GET IGOR!
September 15: Begin filing for Igor's new Ukrainian paperwork to reflect his name
change. New birth certificate, biometric passport, etc. must be issued before we can go to the U.S. Embassy. Igor also has to go through a medical exam to satisfy U.S. immigration requirements. (10-15 Business Days to complete, baring no complications)
End of September/Early October: U.S. Embassy processing (5-7 Business Days to
complete); Dave to join us around this time.
Mid October: Igor comes home with us for good!
